If you are like me you have so many questions when it comes to heaven, eternal life, Jesus, and the spiritual world. I thought it would be interesting to look up the answers to those questions and share them with you today. Below are twelve questions you may have wondered about Jesus.

  • Was Jesus ever tempted by sex or other evil things?
  • Was Jesus half God and half man?
  • Did He suffer on the cross or supernaturally block out the pain?
  • What did Jesus look like?
  • What did Jesus do in the years before His ministry started?
  • How is Jesus our mediator to God?
  • Is Jesus really God or is He simply the third person in the Trinity?
  • Why did Jesus want to save us in the first place?
  • Does Jesus expect Christians to walk on water, part the sea, and other supernatural things?
  • Why does Jesus allow children to get hurt or die?
  • Isn’t Jesus too Busy to really care about my problems?
  • How did Jesus feel when it came time to leave His family and go back to heaven?

Those are some interesting and strange questions but I believe that somewhere there are people who are wondering these very things. Let’s delve into each one separately and find the truth from the bible.

Was Jesus ever tempted by sex or other evil things?

Absolutely! The bible tells us in Hebrews 4:15 that Jesus could really understand what we go through because He was tempted In ALL things, just like we are. Even though Jesus was tempted the bible says He sinned not!

Was Jesus half God and half man?

Jesus was born a human being, but He was also the son of God Almighty. Joseph was not Jesus’ real bloodline father, God was. Because Jesus had lived in heaven prior to being born on earth He understood the spirit world much better than we do.

He was the “Word” in heaven before He became the Jesus that walked the earth. So He was human but He was also God. Many times during Jesus’ ministry He told the disciples that if they could see Him they could see the Father!

Did He suffer on the cross or supernaturally block out the pain?

Jesus suffered a terrible death on the cross for you and me. Right before He was captured He asked the Father if this cup could pass from Him. His flesh was not wanting to go through what He knew was ahead.

Jesus had to take on the sin of the world in order to set us free from it, so He had to experience the pain, suffering, and grief it caused.

Could He have stopped it from hurting? That’s one you can ask Him when you see Him, but I don’t think so.

What did Jesus look like

The custom in those days was for men to have longer hair than what most men have today, but it wasn’t as long as the women wore theirs. Most of the pictures we have portraying Jesus show Him with shoulder-length hair.

The one thing that might have been different than our portraits is the build of Jesus. Men back then worked in the fields, building, fishing, and other hard labor jobs. Jesus worked up until His ministry started, so I think He had more of a muscular build than what is portrayed of Him. This is just my opinion, though.

What did Jesus do in the years before His ministry started?

In Mark 6:3 the word tells us that when Jesus visited His home town during His ministry they did not believe He was the Messiah because they knew Him as the son of Joseph and as a carpenter.

How is Jesus our mediator to God?

The only way we can get to the Father here on earth is through prayer. But prayer needs to be done correctly. God’s word says that when we pray to the Father we are to pray in the “name of Jesus”. He is our mediator and covering.

Because Jesus died and took our sins (once we ask for forgiveness), He becomes our covering so that we can be righteous through His righteousness.  This gives us access to God the Father.

Is Jesus really God or is He simply the third person in the Trinity?

The Trinity can be a little confusing if you don’t understand the different roles of the three. God is God. It’s that simple. He is the Godhead of all people and all things! Jesus is called “the Word” and God created the world, animals, etc with ‘the Word”. He said, “light be”!  This means Jesus was there during all creation.

The Holy Spirit is God’s spirit, known to us as the comforter and helper. Once Jesus came to earth, died, and ascended, He left the Holy Spirit here on earth to help us until He comes again to earth to get those who are still living.

As you can see God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit all work together separately, yet as ONE BEING!

Why did Jesus want to save us in the first place?

God has always wanted a family. First He created the angels, but after a while, He wanted to create a planet with beings made in His image. He created Adam and Eve and the population of the earth began.

After many years of His children falling into evil, He sent Jesus His son to died for us so that we would have someone bridging the gap for us. That person is Jesus!

Jesus always talks about doing the will of the Father. If the Father wants us all in heaven, then Jesus does too. After all, they are all one in the Trinity! Jesus saved us because He loves us.

Does Jesus expect Christians to walk on water, part the sea,

and other supernatural things?

We don’t see many miracles today but that’s because most of us don’t really understand who we are in Christ. Jesus said that those of us that follow Him and believe in Him will do the same works He did and much more!

God wants to move in the supernatural realm here on earth today just as much as He did back then, but people today only want to believe in what “they see”, not believe in what they “can’t see”.

The bible says “Now faith is the substance of things not seen and the evidence of things hoped for.” Hebrews 11:1.

Why does Jesus allow children to get hurt or die?

This question bothers a lot of people, with me included. After much research, the only answer I can come up with will have to do for now.

It seems, according to the bible, that God gave Satan dominion over the earth and the devil is going to and fro over the earth to kill, steal, and destroy!

We, as Christians have been given authority over Satan, and through our faith, we can protect ourselves and our families. We can’t, however, do the believing for everyone else. To each person, God had dealt the measure of faith and it’s up to us to work on building our faith muscles.

Legally God will not step in and stop things from happening UNLESS someone has prayed. There is probably a lot more to it than this, but this was all I could find that even come close to answering the question.  Only God knows for sure.

Isn’t Jesus too busy to really care about my problems?

Some people think that they should only come to God with huge problems that seem to have no solution, but the scriptures say to go to God with everything. God wants us to bring our cares to Him. Jesus said that His yoke is easy and His burden light.

There is nothing we can lay on Him that is too heavy for Him or too hard for Him to handle. If you have an ingrown toenail, Jesus cares!

How did Jesus feel when it came time to leave His family and go back to heaven?

When I studied the death of Christ I found that Jesus was struggling with the fact He would be leaving his friends, His mother, and His family.  He had those human feelings just like we do about family and friends.  Leaving was hard for Him but He wanted to do the Father’s will more than His and so He completed the mission that He was sent here for.

Conclusion

Some of these questions were easy to answer because the scriptures were so clear.  Other questions were not so easy to answer but I did my best to give you something that might satisfy you for now.

The truth is that there are many questions we may never know the answer too and that is where faith and trust in God is the only answer.  We must trust that God has a reason for everything He does and for everything that happens.

I know one thing for sure.  No matter what things here on earth look like…God Loves Us Dearly!
