Easy Way To Memorize Scriptures

I don’t know about you but so many times I can think of what the scriptures say but have no clue as to the location of that scripture. And while it’s great and important we know what the word says, it’s hard to minister or witness to people if you can’t back up what we are telling them with the proper location of the scriptures.

I teach a bible study group on Tuesday afternoons and this year we are memorizing one scripture per month and it’s location. We will have 12 learned by the end of the year and can start another 12 for the next year. Everyone can memorize just one scripture per month so it’s not going to be hard. I’m hoping you will follow along with us and memorize these scriptures as well.

If you read this later in the year you can still go back and learn the ones you missed. I will put these scriptures from the King James because they are easier to memorize as they are usually shorter than some other translations like the Amplified, or Message bible.

Here’s How To Memorize Scriptures

First let me tell you a great way to remember the verse location. Memorize these scriptures like you would if you were entering a spelling bee contest. The person reciting the word always says the word first, spells it, then recites the word again. We will do the same with these scriptures.

Example for January – Say Galatians 2:20, quote the verse, and end with saying Galatians 2:20 again.

That way you get that verse location in your memory as well. Here we go! I’ll add each month as they get here so check back for your memory verse.

I truly believe that anyone can memorize a verse every four weeks, so make the effort and see how good God is! God bless you.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

II Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. II Corinthians 5:17

Galatians 5:24-25 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Galatians 5:24-25

Memorising a whole paragraph of Scriptures, or even a whole chapter, is also–surprisingly–not that difficult! 🙂
