For years I heard people who were believing God for something say “I’m standing on the Word”. What does that mean, standing on the Word? Here is what the scriptures say about it.
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:12-13
As you can see after we have done all we can to withstand our situation, we are to stand some more! How do we do that? Standing on God’s word means we have to know what His word says about certain situations so that we can “stand on the word”.
The way we learn to stand on the word is through bible studies, church, reading the word ourselves, Christian blogs, and other Christian functions. I always caution people that what they learn from sources other than the bible to check them out to be sure what they have learned is really in the bible.
It doesn’t take as long to learn about what God wants for your life as you may think. You can learn so much just by dissecting three or four verses from the bible. There is so much revelation knowledge in store for you if you will just take the first steps.
As you’ve probably read somewhere on this blog, my sisters and I have a three-way call every weekday morning where we have bible study! It’s great fun and only takes around 30 minutes. Bouncing ideas off each other about the word has taught us all so much.
Here are some ways I have learned to stand on the word that may help you as well. You see, in order to stand on God’s word you have to believe it, and in order to really believe it, you have to get it rooted and grounded in your spirit. Here’s how to get God’s word rooted and grounded inside you!
How To Get God’s Word Rooted & Grounded In Your Spirit
Meditating on the word by saying the scriptures out loud over and over thinking about what they really mean to me.
Writing down positive affirmations that are from the bible. Example: “ My God will supply all my need according to Christ riches in glory”. Philippians 4:19.
Sometimes I even put my name in the scriptures where possible. Example” “My God will supply all of Rhonda’s need according to Christ riches in glory.”
Praying in the spirit. The bible says we are to pray in our prayer language (tongues) as well as English. I know some of you don’t believe in this and that’s okay. It’s not a must-do, but it’s a very helpful tool when you are fighting battles. Your prayers will still be answered!
When you pray in the spirit this means your spirit knows the exact words to say to God to get your answer on the way, without your will getting involved.
Writing all my blessings down in a journal. Journaling every day or at least every week helps you to see all the blessings God is already doing for you. You can write anything in your journal because it’s strictly between you and the Father.
Even the small miracles and ways God has helped you and your family will encourage you and build your faith. I remember one of the first things I ever wrote in my journal was about a free bag of potatoes I received. We should always thank God for the small things and then He will trust us with the big things.
Last but not least is my study of the word. Once I got started I just haven’t been able to stop. The word of God is so exciting and so alive today that it makes me want to jump and shout.
The more you study, which is just listening to podcasts, reading the bible, videos, Christian books, or bible studies, the more your faith will sore. When your faith is soaring it’s much easier to stand on the word of God. Remember, you have to believe you have it long before you actually see it manifested!
Feel free to use any of these methods if you think they will help you stand on the word. We are all in this together. God Bless!
