Revelation Knowledge

If you’ve been a Christian for very long you have heard the term “revelation knowledge” and you may be wondering what is it and how it operates.

Two Types of Revelation Knowledge

To understand revelation knowledge you must first know that there are two kinds of knowledge in this world. There is “sense” knowledge or what we call natural learning knowledge and there is “revelation” knowledge.

Sense knowledge consists of what we hear, see, taste, touch, and smell, whereas revelation knowledge is some form of revealed knowledge. This knowledge is revealed to you by the Holy Spirit. You can’t get revelation knowledge any other way.

“When the Spirit of truth (Holy Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”

John 16:13

The Holy Spirt Is The Revealer of Revelation Knowledge

Here you have proof that the Holy spirit will reveal things to you but they are things he is getting from the father, God. It’s amazing how the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit work in our lives when we open our hearts to them.

Who Is The Revealer of Knowledge?

While the Holy Spirit is the one who teaches you the revelation knowledge there are believed to be two types of this revelation knowledge. One is a general revelation where God is revealed through His creation, such as nature. The other way is through special revelation which you receive when praying or studying the Word of God.

The second type of revelation knowledge is what we are talking about today because it’s the knowledge that tells you the mysteries of the Father and it literally changes you life many times!

Steps to Receive Revelation Knowledge

Reading and Dissecting Scriptures

You must do more than just read the scriptures. It’s necessary to get that word rooted and grounded in your spirit man. The way to do that is to dissect and meditate on God’s word.

I’ll give a brief description of how to do it here, but you can find out more by downloading this free book on how to study God’s word.

Let’s take the scriptures we just studied in John 16:13 and dissect it. If I were to meditate and study this scripture I would say these words out loud.

When the Holy Spirit comes to me personally, not just everyone else, but me, He will guide, teach, and reveal to me personally in ALL the truths of God so that I may understand them.

He will sit with me and show me through His Word and in my mind exactly what I need to know or do for the Holy Spirit is my comforter and helper, and He teaches me everything I need to know to have a better life.”

So How Do We Go About It?

The key is to take the scriptures and make them personal for you because they are for you. God is no respecter of persons and will give the same knowledge and help to you He would for anyone else.

You can’t earn this revelation knowledge, you have to simply study His word and stay in prayer.

Getting Revelation Knowledge During Group Bible Study

I’ve said in a previous post that my two sisters and I have bible study on a 3-way phone call every weekday morning. During this time when we’ve been studying god’s word, I have received revelation knowledge on a phrase or word from the bible. Suddenly it all became clear!

That’s what revelation knowledge does for you. It teaches you things you didn’t know and makes other things crystal clear. Praise the Lord for His Holy Spirit!

Giving Thanks To God Our Creator for Revelation Knowledge

All through the bible, we are told that we are to enter His gates with thanksgiving in our hearts and His praises on our tongues. Giving thanks at the first part of your prayer puts you in a position to receive whatever word He has just for you.

During praise and worship you may be told something that is going to happen in the future. God’s Holy spirit reveals things to you when you are in the spirit realm.

You may be praising God when you suddenly (in the spirit) see yourself teaching at a ladies conference, or singing in the choir. These may be things you had never even considered before. You can rest assured that God knows and equips you for whatever service He has for you.

Be Quiet and Listen for Revelation Knowledge

You can’t hear what God is saying through His Holy Spirit if you are talking all the time. Sometimes the most intimate times you can spend with god is simply in silence, just basking in His presence.

The hard part about this is trying to shut your mind to the things of the world that keep trying to creep in. When this happens to me I simply start saying the name of Jesus in my mind, over and over until I’m back in God’s presence.

“Be still and know that I am God;”

Psams 46:10

What Do You Do With Your Revelation Knowledge?

According to James 2:17, faith is dead if it does not have works. This means we need to put feet to our faith and “act” accordingly. If you don’t put your faith to work then it won’t make a change in your life.

If you believe God wants you to be a bible study teacher then act upon that before it actually happens. You study the word and prepare lessons to be shared at some time in the future. You act “as if” you are already a bible study teacher.

Share what you are learning with anyone that will listen and get used to public speaking. When you step out on faith, God will do the rest and use you. God will also give you much-needed revelation knowledge so that you can add it to your lessons.

Knowing What The Scriptures Says is Not Enough

Mere knowledge is not what’s going to sustain you or bring you that revelation knowledge you are seeking. You need spiritual understanding from God’s spirit to “bring it to life”. When it comes to life and the “light bulb” goes off in your head; that’s revelation knowledge!

I can’t tell you how exciting it is when that “light bulb” moment happens, and I can’t wait for you to experience it!

Having or not having revelation knowledge also explains why some people seem to operate in the Word of God and it works for them and others it doesn’t. If it’s not working you are trying to operate on head knowledge alone.

I Corinthians 4:20 states that the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. When the Word is alive in you through revelation knowledge it is so powerful.

Knowing Difference Between Kingdom of God & Kingdom of Heaven

Remember this when reading your bible. The kingdom of God is where we Christians walk on a daily basis through his word. It’s our spiritual walk on this earth. When you read about the kingdom of heaven the bible is talking about a place. The place where we will spend eternity.

What’s great about god’s word is that we can walk victoriously in the kingdom of God now. Get into prayer and the word and dissect it so that the Holy Spirit can impart words of revelation knowledge to you!
