Many Christians today complain about the way things are in the world but have never once taken a stand against the things they abhor about it. Standing firm in an unholy world will be a challenge, but I believe it’s one we all have the strength to do.
Today I’ll share some insight that will help you take a stand when needed and give you the boldness to stand up for our Lord and savior!
Why The World Seems
The truth is there are many great Christians in this world but many of us are not standing firm and seem to let things slide as culture and new generations want to live in an anything-goes society.
Over the years television is now showing things to our families that would have been considered “X” rated many years ago, and it’s accepted as the norm!
As Christians, if we had all written the TV stations years ago and complained it might have made a difference. If we aren’t standing firm for morals in our society, who will?
Satan has convinced us that we can’t make a difference, but we can. Christian boldness is hard for many people but that’s what it’s going to take if we want to make this world a better place for our children to grow up.
Standing firm for Christ could be something as simple as not being a part of the crowd listening to the dirty jokes or gossip at work. People will notice that you don’t participate and that makes a statement loud and clear, even if you don’t say a word. It’s time to live what you believe!
There will be times when you need to speak up and if you truly believe the bible, you should be standing firm when the situation calls for it. Look at the scripture below in Romans 1:16. (New Living Translation)
“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.”
You see, we are NOT to be ashamed. When we don’t speak up we are telling God we are ashamed. Maybe you think people will make fun of you, or tease you. So what? What people think is not near as important as what God thinks!
Steps to Help Us Stand
Up For Christian Beliefs
We must believe in Christ and Be Saved
We Must Live Our Best Life
We Must Love One Another
We Must be Patient & Pray For Those Who Don’t Believe
We Must Line Up Our Actions To match Our Belief
Christianity is Under Attack
What’s Your Testimony?
Every Christian should have a testimony of what God has done for them. It could be the testimony of how you got saved, or a testimony of how God helped you in some other way. People need to know that God is real in your life and you have a testimony to prove it!
Your testimony is one way of standing firm in your belief by sharing it with others.
One of my sisters has a great testimony of how she got saved and it really ministers to people, but my story of getting saved was not that moving to anyone but me. I was saved as a child and then when I married got away from the Christian walk for a while.
My testimony is about how God brought me back into the fold by stopping my home from being foreclosed on.
It was a true miracle and only God could have pulled this miracle off so smoothly. After you finish this article you can read how this miracle took place. Click here for the miracle.
Our testimonies can be used to uplift other Christians, and also to plant a seed in those who have not accepted Christ yet. Testimonies work for us like signs and wonders did for the Apostles.
Does Fear Keep You From Standing Firm For Your Beliefs?
Fear is certainly not from God and the bible tells us that fear is a sin. Why? Because we are supposed to trust God completely and when we are afraid it means we don’t have total trust. When you trust someone you aren’t afraid and you feel safe!
“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.”
1 Corinthians 16:13 New Living Translation
“Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong.”
Standing Firm When Tempted
Sometimes standing firm for Jesus comes in the form of temptation. Remember, the enemy knows your weak point. When tempted to do wrong you must be strong and fight the temptation, knowing that God will see you through it. The bible says there is no temptation that has ever come to a man that He hasn’t made a way to escape it.
You will get no sympathy from me if you say “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak”. Too many times Christians use the excuse “we are only human” to do the wrong things they want to do. It’s true that our flesh is weak at times, but we have the Holy Spirit living inside us! The Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit! That should be all the power we need to defeat the enemy at his own game.
I know it sounds like I’m being hard on Christians and I am. I’m being hard on myself as well. There are times in the past that I should have stood up for Christ and I’m ashamed that I didn’t. My hope and prayer is that in the future we can all stand up for Jesus and let the world know that He is alive and well!
Government & Christianity
Our own government is okay with killing babies and having same-sex marriages. These two things are against the laws that God has set forth for us to follow. You may think there is nothing you can do, but we can write our state senators and representatives and voice our opinions. We can also vote when it’s election time.
Not voting means you are okay with abortion and other terrible acts against humanity! Well, guess I’ll get off my soapbox for today, but I hope this blog post will make you think before you act.
In a nutshell, it’s time we Christians start standing firm against sin whenever we can and I pray the world will be better because of our actions.
